Natural gas and oil has always been one of the most valuable natural resources in demand. Drilling explorations literally drive gyro technology because over time supplies have diminished. It is this finite supply of a now necessary resource that prompts new drilling around the globe. The difference now days are the enormous financial investment and a growing concern for the environment in respect to these drilling ventures. Early technology a few decades ago was adequate in finding oil reserves to supply the needs of the time; however, present fuel consumption has reached a point where current supplies are longer enough. Only by making full use of the latest in oil exploration and drilling processes can oil companies find, extract and process natural resources with sufficient profit margins. And, the world continues to demand oil and petroleum products for a growing insatiable appetite aimed at fueling the hungry metal beasts of modern age Geological surveys are designed to find an area suspected to contain vital hydrocarbon deposits. Once identified, this area is subjected to gravity, magnetic, and seismic surveys to determine if underground features match those of other stores of oil resources found. An oil resource can be natural gas or crude oil. Crude still needs to be processed to obtain petroleum products needed to fuel vehicles and machineries. Once identified, suspected regions are subjected to detailed echo sounding method to get a clear profile of the underground structure. Only after the surveys meet standards for evaluation can exploratory drilling begin. As land and resources are exploited and depleted, fewer resources are available as these are not renewable energy sources. With fewer land resources explorations go off-shore. Drilling off-shore is more costly but tends to offer higher yield extraction. As a whole, oil exploration is complex, exacting, costly and not always successful in the end.
